"Sandhill Cranes are one of the Earth's oldest bird species. Fossils found in Nebraska are believed to be about 10 million years old.
When a low-flying flock of Sandhills lands in a field before me, I feel as if I have entered a primeval world.
The style I used in this drawing is reminiscent of an ancient Pictish stone carving of convoluted "beasties"."
